2025 British Council Scotland Scholarships: SGSAH EARTH Program

The British Council Scotland Scholarships (SGSAH EARTH) program is designed to support international students doing PhD research in environmental humanities at Scottish universities.

This initiative is a collaboration between the British Council and the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities (SGSAH), focusing on tackling global environmental challenges. The program combines the humanities and environmental sciences to address issues such as climate change and environmental degradation.

These scholarships are awarded to exceptional PhD students studying subjects like environmental history, literature, philosophy, ethics, and sustainability. The program not only covers tuition fees and living costs but also provides access to Scotland’s academic resources, mentorship, and research opportunities with various partners.

A key feature of the SGSAH EARTH scholarship is its interdisciplinary approach, encouraging students to work with different fields to create impactful research. Scholars are also expected to share their research with the public, contributing to the wider conversation on sustainability.

The program aims to develop a new generation of scholars who are not only skilled in their research but also deeply involved in addressing the social, cultural, and ethical aspects of the global environmental crisis. It is a competitive program that looks for passionate individuals ready to make a difference through innovative research and collaboration.

The scholarship offers full financial support, including travel, accommodation, and living expenses for the selected candidates.
